On Saturday, Hertha BSC secured a crucial victory against TSG Hoffenheim in their Bundesliga clash at the Olympiastadion. The match ended in a 2-1 victory for Hertha, with two goals scored by Brazilian striker Marcelo Weverton.
The first goal was scored by Weverton in the 54th minute after a long ball from the midfield to the forward. He dribbled past his opponent before firing a shot into the top corner of the net, giving Hertha a lead they would not relinquish.
In the second half, TSG Hoffenheim tried to fight back, but it was too little, too late. They were unable to score any more goals and eventually conceded another goal, this time through a penalty kick from substitute Kevin Volland.
Despite conceding the penalty, Hoffenheim did well to create some chances themselves, but they could not convert them into goals. In contrast, Hertha's defense remained solid throughout the game, preventing any further attacks from TSG Hoffenheim.
Jovetic, who also played a key role in the match, came on as a substitute in the 76th minute and immediately made an impact. He received the ball from his teammate and proceeded to dribble past his opponent before slotting the ball into the back of the net, giving Hertha a 2-0 lead.
With this result, Hertha BSC remains in third place in the Bundesliga table, just one point behind Borussia Dortmund. Their next match is against Eintracht Frankfurt, which will be held on Wednesday, January 19th, 2023.
